There are a lot of places to go to in Cebu province. A week or even a month-long vacation wouldn’t be enough to explore all the tourist spots in the region. So, to help you out with your next vacation plans, here’s a list of 21 of Cebu City’s top tourist spots:
ISLANDS AND BEACH RESORTS
#philipines #naturezalindaperfeita #bantayanisland [email protected]#palawanbeach

Located in the northernmost part of Cebu, Bantayan Island is approximately 140 kilometers away from the Cebu City proper. Travel time from the capitol would be about 3 to 4 hours, which includes land transport going to Hagnaya Port in the town of San Remigio, a ferry ride to the Sta. Fe Wharf and a tricycle ride to the resort of your choice within Bantayan Island.
Once you hit the beach, you will surely fall in love with the picturesque view of the shoreline with white sand and clear blue-green water. It’s a sight to behold indeed! So be sure to take several selfies, especially during sunset.
Several activities await you on the island, like swimming, diving and there’s even a cave with a small lagoon to explore in Ogtong Cave Resort, plus you may also take a boat ride to neighbouring islands.

Another great spot to visit in the northernmost part of Cebu is the island of Malapascua. It also boasts of white sand beaches, crystal-clear water and is best known for a diving destination.
An exciting adventure awaits you in Gato Island and deep into the Kemod and Gonad Shoals where you will be able to see Malapascua’s vibrant marine life and beautiful corals. You might even see some thresher sharks and manta rays swimming about, so make sure you are properly equipped and accompanied by professional divers and guides.
Looking for other beach and diving options in Cebu? Then take a tour of the Camotes Islands, located east of the Cebu main island, approximately 3 kilometers away from Cebu City. There are three main islands to explore: Poro, Pacijan and Ponson, plus a minor islet called Tulang Island.
Swim along the white-sand shoreline of the different beach resorts like Santiago Bay; or if you want a little adrenaline rush, you can go cliff diving in Buho Rock Resort. Other notable places to visit and explore are Lake Danao, Busay Waterfalls, the Guadalupe, Bukilat, Holy Crystal and Timabu caves.
The Island of Sumilon is also located in Oslob, Southern Cebu. It’s about a 15-minute boat ride from Barangay Tan-awan. There is a private resort on the island, but there is also a public beach area.
You can enjoy frolicking on the white-sand shoreline or sandbar and go swimming on the clear blue waters. The private resort offers even more fun-filled island activities, such as fishing, kayaking and island trekking.
So whether you have money to burn or you’re on a tight budget, Sumilon Island is sure to give you wonderful memories you won’t soon forget!
And there you have it, folks, that’s 21 of the best tourist and vacation spots in Cebu. Try to visit and explore all of them, not all in one go because it would be impossible to do so, but at least now, you have more than one reason to go back and return to the wonderful Island of Cebu.
Have any of you been to some if not most of the tourist spots mentioned above? Did your favorites make our list or perhaps you have other destinations we missed out on? Kindly tell us all about it on the comments below.
Mactan Island Beach Resorts
If you plan to tour the main island of Cebu but you also want to get some tan on the beach, then it’s best for you to find accommodations in Mactan Island where you can easily go to and from Cebu City and other neighbouring towns. Mactan Island is the main gateway to Cebu as the Mactan-Cebu International Airport is located there as well.
Some of the more notable beach resorts in Mactan are: Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, Maribago BlueWater Beach Resort, Tambuli and White Sands Beach Resorts and Shangr-La Beach.
Hidden Beach Resort
After an exciting Bojo River Cruise, you might want to consider going to Hidden Beach Resort next, because it’s also located in Aloguinsan.
The resort is aptly named because it’s hidden behind lots of trees and can’t be seen from the main road, so going there is a bit of a walk. Furthermore, the resort has not been commercially developed yet, so it’s virtually untouched and not a lot of people have discovered the resort.
Hidden Beach is a very simple resort with very simple amenities. All you will notice once you arrive on the beach is the raw beauty of nature and the sea and make you think that the trip going there was definitely worth it!
After visiting Cebu’s very own Rice Terraces and you wanna cool down and have some fun, then you might wanna ride the waves at Mahayahay Beach, which is also located in Argao!
Get stoked riding the coastal waves at Mahayahay Beach, especially during the monsoon season when the waves are quite high and perfect for windsurfing, skimboarding and wave surfing. You are sure to have a rad time! Like totally!
Explore more of the province of Cebu by heading down south to Moalboal, about 89 kilometers from Cebu City or a 2-and-a-half to 3-hour bus ride from the capitol. Then from the town proper, just ride a tricycle and ask the driver to take you to Panagsama Beach or White Beach in Barangay Saavedra.
After choosing a resort for your accommodations, you can then start enjoying the sand, sun and sea! And the best of all, go snorkeling, scuba-diving, island hopping and so much more!
Another popular beach destination in Cebu among locals is Tingko Beach in Barangay Daan-Lungsod in Alcoy, Cebu, 93 kilometers south of Cebu City. Tingko Beach rests on a small lagoon facing directly across the Mabad-on Reef, which is fully visible during low tide, but fully submerged during high tide.
Tingko Beach has an arcing shoreline lined with white sand and shallow blue-green water flowing to and from the shore. However, please do note that the shallow sea floor gradually slopes towards a much deeper depth out towards the open sea. So just be aware and be safe at all times to have an enjoyable time at Tingko Beach.
While you’re on Tingko Beach, you should also try to drop by the Bantayan sa Hari watch tower somewhere on the northern area of the beach.
A popular tourist attraction in southern Cebu is whale shark watching in Barangay Tan-awan, Oslob, Cebu. From the city capitol, just ride a bus from the South Bus Terminal going towards Tan-awan. Travel time is between 3 to 4 hours as the town of Oslob is about 112 kilometers away from Cebu City.
Once you arrive in Barangay Tan-awan, just ask any local to direct you where you can go whale shark watching. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you could even swim with a butanding or whale shark. You will surely be in awe of these gentle sea giants! And hopefully, the experience will further make you appreciate the importance of protecting and preserving the environment.
Dalaguete Beach Park
Delight in the great beach view at Dalaguete Beach Park! The Town of Dalaguete is located 84 kilometers south of Cebu City. Once you arrive at the town proper, you just simply catch a tricycle ride and be on your way to Dalaguete Beach Park.
Aside from swimming and getting a tan on the beach, much like in Mahayahay Beach in the town of Argao, you can also go skimboarding in Dalaguete Beach Park because of the huge waves there.

Aside from Kawasan Falls, the town of Badian is also home to Lambug Beach. The Municipality of Badian is almost 100 kilometers away from Cebu City and a bus ride will take about 3 hours.
Even though Lambug beach is open to the public, wherein you don’t have to pay for any entrance fee, it is not as crowded compared to the other beach resorts in Cebu. That means you can enjoy the sights and relax even more!

MARINE AND WILDLIFE SUNCTUARIES
Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary
Five kilometers from the island of Mactan is the Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary, where migratory birds from Japan, China and Northern Siberia flock to during wintertime in those countries. Local guides say that over 90 species of birds find refuge in the island, an area with a diverse coastal ecosystem primarily composed of sand flats and mangroves.
Aside from birdwatching, tourists can also enjoy diving in the three dive spots in Olango island to see beautiful corals and the magnificent underwater wildlife. They say hammerhead sharks and whale sharks have been seen in the area as well.
Talima Marine Sanctuary
One particular diving spot on Olango Island is the Talima Marine Sanctuary. It is only a 10-minute boat ride from Mactan Island.
The Talima marine sanctuary is popular among diving enthusiasts because of the small fishing boat shipwreck that can be found about 18 meters below the sea. A variety of colorful marine wildlife can be found on the coral reefs, like frog fishes, sweetlips, clown fishes, sea turtles and seahorses just to name a few. You are sure to have a delightful diving experience in the Talima Marine Sanctuary!
Nalusuan Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary
Another great place for swimming, diving, snorkeling and kayaking is the Nalusuan Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary, which is part of the Olango Island Group. The Island is said to be originally a sand bar but later developed into a man-made resort. It’s definitely a great place to unwind and also enjoy several aquatic activities!

Wanna go cruisin’? Then make your way to Aloguinsan, Cebu (which is about two hours away from Cebu City) and cruise along the Bojo River. Different tour packages are available for tourists to choose from. And before you go on the actual river cruise, you will first be treated to a short informative lecture on the mangrove ecosystem and importance of the environment.
After the lecture, the 45-minute river adventure begins! Cruising along the Bojo river, you will see many different species of mangroves and possibly some migratory birds flying about. The cool water would look greenish and cloudy at the start of the tour, but becomes clearer as you make your way towards the inlet leading to the open Tañon Strait.
You can swim, go kayaking or just simply appreciate the scenery during the Bojo River Cruise. Whatever you choose to do, it will surely be a very memorable experience!
The highest waterfall in Cebu is said to be located in the Municipality of Barili — the Mantayupan Falls! Barili is only 61 kilometers southwest of Cebu City or about a 2-hour bus ride.
The Mantayupan Falls is actually a 2-level waterfall. The first level is approximately 14 meters high, while the second level of waterfall is roughly 98 meters in height. Water in the catch basin is quite murky when it rains, but is quite clear on a good and sunny day. So better check the weather before going there to fully enjoy its breathtaking awesomeness!
After climbing up Osmeña Peak, you can actually trek your way down to the neighboring town of Badian to visit the Kawasan Falls.
Kawasan Falls has three levels of waterfalls, but the first one at the bottom level is the largest fall where people hang out to relax, swim and enjoy the cool and clear water pouring down the waterfall. There are tables and rafts for rent as well as cottages for those who want to stay overnight.
PEAKS AND FARM
Argao Rice Terraces
Add some variety to your Cebu itinerary by visiting other spots aside from beach resorts. If you’ve been to Banaue Rice Terraces in the Ifugao region, then you will surely appreciate the rice terraces in Argao, Cebu.
About 68 kilometers from Cebu City, the Municipality of Argao is located in the southeastern part of the Province of Cebu. You can find the Argao Rice Terraces in Barangay Butong. Start snapping pictures or selfies as soon as you get there!
- Osmeña Peak
If you’re in the mood to go hiking, then trek your way to Osmeña Peak which is also located in the Municipality of Dalaguete as well. The Peak is about 1,000 meters above sea level and is part of the Mantalongon mountain range. It is the highest peak in the province of Cebu named after the famous political clan in the province.
The hike going up the mountain takes about two hours. On the way up, you will see unique jagged rock formations. And once you reach the top, you will get a magnificent view of the surrounding area, including the Southern Cebu shoreline as well as the islands of Negros and Bohol.
